Freire to lead Rabobank in Giro

Spaniard Oscar Freire, winner of the 2010 Milan-San Remo, will lead Rabobank in the Giro d’Italia, which gets under way Saturday in Amsterdam.

Freire, a three-time world champion (1999, 2001, 2004), will be racing the Giro for the first time. It’s the only major tour in which he has not won a stage — his palmares include seven stages of the Vuelta a España and four of the Tour de France.

I'm totally second to cobblemonster... This article was written so unprofessionally. Enough said.

Really not sure how you can run Rabobank's announcement of their line-up for the Giro without acknowledging Menchov having won last year's monumental edition and not offer some sort of explanation / speculation as to why he's not riding this year for Rabo... Ok, I'm sure he's focusing on the Tour, but I'm guessing he's made that public? What was said? Surely Friere leading the team is secondary news to Menchov not riding.

Did I miss something? Denny Menchev is NOT racing at the Giro for Rabobank?
