Crewe Alexandra have this afternoon confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Rhys Taylor on a two-month youth loan. The 20-year-old Welshman will join up with his new team-mates tomorrow after agreeing to an initial short-term loan as Steve Phillips' replacement.

The Neath-born Taylor is yet to make a senior appearance for the current FA Premier League champions but he has been a regular for their reserve team now under Crewe's previous manager Steve Holland.

The highly regarded Taylor has also been a regular at Youth level for Wales, appearing for various age groups including an appearance for the Under-21s in 2008 at the age of just 17.

Taylor has signed until 8th September to act as cover for Steve Phillips, who is presently recovering from a double shoulder operation.
