The Mets shortstop left Saturday's game against the Braves in the seventh inning after aggravating his troublesome oblique muscle while making a long throw to first base. He said immediately following the game that the injury would keep him out of Tuesday's All-Star Game.
Dodgers shortstop Rafael Furcal will replace Reyes on the NL roster. Reyes was on the team as an injury replacement himself, taking Troy Tulowitzki's spot with the Rockies shortstop on the disabled list.
Reyes has been battling an oblique muscle problem for about two weeks. Initially injured June 30 in a game against the Marlins, he missed six games before returning to the lineup this week. But the switch-hitter was batting only from the right side of the plate because it bothered him too much to hit left-handed.
Reyes underwent an MRI exam Friday, but it apparently came back clean and he started the series opener against the Braves.
"This is a big series and I want to be there helping my teammates win these games," Reyes said Friday. "I feel that I can play, even though I'm not 100 percent."
He apparently pushed it too far, and in the process became the third player to declare himself out of the All-Star Game on Saturday due to injury. Earlier in the day, the Twins' Justin Morneau dropped out because of a concussion and the Braves' Jason Heyward decided his bruised thumb hadn't recovered sufficiently to allow him to play.

Enough is enough with this guy. He`s a great player but injured all to often.I say get rid of him now and get someone in there that can play every day and be depended on.
