Enjoy Sussex

Enjoy Sussex covers some of England’s finest countryside and coast, making it the perfect destination for a day visit, relaxing short break or a longer holiday. There is an extensive choice of quality accommodation on offer for every taste and budget, from country house hotels to cosy bed and breakfasts and pretty self-catering cottages.

There’s a wealth of places to visit too, from thriving market towns such as Lewes, with its castle, to picturesque village greens and award-winning visitor attractions and special events, such as the inspiring world-class opera at Glyndebourne. Journey through the ages and visit some of England’s finest ancient churches, imposing castles, working windmills and museums. Visit the homes of the many famous artists, writers, poets and musicians who have lived or worked here, from Rudyard Kipling to the famous Bloomsbury Group and Henry James.

For walkers, cyclists and horse riders, the footpaths and bridleways are a delight. From the South Downs and Seven Sisters to the Ashdown Forest and the High Weald, there are trails for all abilities.

Ashdown Forest covers 14,000 acres of lowland heathland which has never been cultivated and so provides a unique habitat for many species of flora and fauna.

One of the most famous and best loved former residents of Ashdown Forest was Winnie the Pooh, whose favourite haunts, the Hundred Acre Wood, the Six Pine Trees, the Sandy Pit where Pooh played, are all still easily identifiable.

Why not go for a gentle stroll, enjoy a picnic with a fabulous view, or relax on the beach? If you fancy a round of golf, sailing on the open sea, or the peace and tranquillity of fresh-water fishing, then you will find it here. The adventurous can try rock climbing, abseiling and even skiing.

Enjoy Sussex is home to some of the most beautiful gardens in the country, from landscaped parks created by Capability Brown including Sheffield Park to woodland gardens like High Beeches and Leonardslee and romantic gardens like Nymans and Borde Hill Gardens.

Whether adventure parks, steam railways or llama trekking take your fancy, or science observatories and motor racing make you smile, Enjoy Sussex has it all.

Further information can be found at the official Enjoy Sussex website.
