English referee Howard Webb has been selected as the man in the middle for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ Final, it was announced today. The Final at Soccer City in Johannesburg on 11 July will be the 38-year-old Yorkshireman's fourth game at these first African finals as he also took charge of Spain-Switzerland, Slovakia-Italy and Brazil-Chile.

The third-place play-off in Port Elizabeth 24 hours earlier will be handled by Mexican referee Benito Archundia, who will be overseeing his third game of this FIFA World Cup. It will be his eighth match at FIFA World Cup tournaments and only two other referees have officiated as many matches in the competition's history.
