The Academy’s 8th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards were presented at a ceremony held in Las Vegas at the Green Valley Ranch Resort on February 1, 2005, the second evening of the D.I.C.E. Summit. Kurt Scholler (HBO’s Sketchpad) and Cory Rouse (G4 TechTV’s Cheat) hosted the awards. The presenters were Lorne Lanning (President, Oddworld Inhabitants), Tommy Tallarico (Tommy Tallarico Studios, Inc.), Dr. Ray Muzyka (Joint CEO, BioWare Corp.), Dr. Greg Zeschuk (Joint CEO, BioWare Corp.), Stan Lee (Chairman Emeritus, Marvel Enterprises, Inc.), Sid Meier, Jack Tretton (Executive Vice President, SCEA), Douglas Lowenstein (President, ESA), and Tal Blevins (IGN.com). Half-Life 2, developed by Valve and published by Vivendi Universal, won nine awards, including overall Game of the Year and PC Game of the Year. Halo 2, developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft, won four awards, including Console Game of the Year. The Academy presented Interactive Achievement Awards in 39 craft, console, computer, and online categories. The Academy also inducted Trip Hawkins, founder of Electronic Arts, into its Hall of Fame. |
