Q: How to read Chinese news?

Internet Explorer (4.0 and up) and Netscape (4.5 and up) are recommended to read Chinese languages. Choose GB or HZ in the menu of "view"/encoding to recognize Chinese (simplified), BIG5 for traditional Chinese.
In addition, Chinese platforms, such as Richwin or NJ star, are also recommended for installment in reading Chinese. Many websites, such as http://chinese.yahoo.com/docs/info/bridge.html or http://richwin.sina.com.cn/download/, provide softwares to download for reading Chinese.

Q: How often is People's Daily Online updated?

People's Daily Online (English) guarantees news-updates every minute whenever and wherever news occurs. For hot events, related news will be added promptly.

Q: How to search for news of early times?

"Archive" (right to sitemap) provides entrances to early news pages. Select desired date in archive page to be linked to past news.

Q: How to search for news by key words?

"Search/Advanced Search" (up right) helps you find information according to key words or phrases. A general search can be conducted simply by input a key word or phrase in the blank bar of "search". For an advanced search (right to archive), enter key word according to the options regulated in advanced search page. Related news will be displayed in the order of score, time, title, reverse score, reverse time or reverse title as you need.
