Bayless Among Many to Thrive in Vegas
He was absolutely sensational. He dazzled with his exceptional quickness and irritated his opponents with his scoring aptitude. Portland's Jerryd Bayless deserved to be rewarded for his outstanding performances. And he was.

Bayless, who erupted for 36 points and buried the game-winning basket on Saturday, was named the T-Mobile NBA Summer League Top Rookie. He ranked No. 1 in scoring (29.8 ppg) in Las Vegas and helped lead the Blazers to a 3-2 record.

Other players, meanwhile, also flourished over the past week. Houston's Donte Greene, for example, racked up a 2008 league-best 40 points in his debut and finished behind Bayless for the highest scoring average.

Golden State's Anthony Randolph, who may not look physically imposing because of his slender body, showed how versatile he is. He, along with Brandan Wright, will give the revamped Warriors much-needed depth this upcoming season.

Donte Greene, Rockets Forward
Many rookies were impressive during the NBA Summer League in Vegas. But perhaps the most surprising standout from the past week was Houston's Donte Greene, who averaged 22.6 points and erupted for a 40-point performance in his debut. Expect Greene, as a result, to see extended playing time for the Rockets in 2008-09.
