This is Michelle Obama taking part in a game of dodge ball.

The First Lady was in Baltimore to make a few pitches about a campaign she believes in - namely improving the health of children.

And to promote her cause, she took part in a baseball clinic that was held at Camden yards, the field where the Baltimore Orioles play.

Mrs Obama showed some neat reactions, too, when she deflected a high throw from one of the children that was heading straight for her face.

Mrs Obama's pitch to Major League Baseball about how it can help her fight childhood obesity fared a bit better.

She announced that the Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association will join forces with the White House in her Let's Move campaign, which champions healthy eating and exercise for American children.

'To the entire MLB Players Association and all 30 players who agreed to be part of the public service advertising campaigns, it just means so much to these kids to see you guys joining in this,' said Mrs Obama.

'Your voice means so much more to them than anything we could say.'

Now that could have hurt: Mrs Obama deflect the ball away

Mrs Obama, who was dressed in white trousers and a printed top, laced up her tennis shoes and got on the mound at a clinic the baseball club held for children.

The First Lady made her way to the three stations for about 30 minutes, playing catch, tossing grounders and encouraging the kids.

Before the clinic started, Mrs Obama showcased her baseball skills. She tossed a few pitches in the bullpen to a professional baseball player and later with the kids in the clinic.

She says she hopes to reach a broader audience through the 30 public service announcements that will feature players from each team.

Game for a laugh: No harm done, Mrs Obama enjoys a joke with some of the players

Later in the day, following a quick change of clothes, Mrs Obama stopped by the stadium to catch the Tampa Bay Rays play the Baltimore Orioles.

Mrs Obama, sporting an Orioles baseball shirt, took time to meet the Rays players before posing for pictures with the Orioles.

She then was given the honour of throwing the ceremonial first pitch.

And it seems Mrs Obama acted as somewhat of a good luck charm - The Orioles beat the Rays 11-10 in 13 innings.

"She is not regulating the food you have to eat. "

She's not but her husband is trying to, at her behest I'm sure. Mandatory BMIs by 2014 - for all Americans. Just what do you think that means - it's a start to government regulation of food intake. Thankfully by 2014 Obama and his minions won't be in office anymore...because he's going to be a one-term president, thank goodness.

The Obama's are all about what is good for them is too good for everyone else. They exhort people to vacation on the Gulf Coast - then head to Maine. Obama golfs while oil gushes and devastates entire communities.

As for the obesity of Americans...I've seen plenty of people from Britain who aren't exactly thin either. Didn't you all introduce some lasagna sandwich recently the eclipses the fat and calorie content of anything the U.S. has ever produced???

To me she is the epitome of what a first lady should be down to earth yet classy. More importantly she has taken up an important cause!

I think Anna Maria, Chicago, has a good point since the president recently took Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to have meal at Ray's Hell Burger where they both had cheeseburgers. Ken Preston, UK, Maine lobster is usally eaten with drawn butter.
