News ImageNEW YORK, NY, JUNE 14 2010 - Cherry Lane Music Publishing (part of BMG), home to writer/artists including will I am, John Legend, Warren Haynes, and the catalogs of Elvis Presley, Quincy Jones and John Denver, has signed worldwide multi-year publishing deals with the widely acclaimed funkadelic gospel songstress Alysha Brillinger and Throwing Gravity frontman Nick Newhouse. They join the growing roster of the joint venture publishing agreement, Lava Publishing, between Cherry Lane and renowned music executive Jason Flom. Previous signings include rock band Pop Evil and UK singer/songwriter Joe Brooks.

Singer/songwriter Brillinger developed her unique sound from her Tanzanian and Canadian roots, which exposed her to world/reggae and blues/folk music. Ultimately these influences created her distinctive sound. When Brillinger came to Flom’s attention, he was immediately convinced she was a star and signed her to his label.

Guitarist/ vocalist Nick Newhouse formed Throwing Gravity in Nashville barely a year ago and the rock band has already toured the US and Canada, quickly gaining industry recognition. Throwing Gravity’s much anticipated debut album Wake Up will be released in July, on Lava/Universal Republic with first single “Bring Me Down” being sent to radio July 27th.

In announcing the signing, Richard Stumpf, SVP of Creative Services/ A&R Marketing at Cherry Lane, stated “We are very excited to welcome Alysha and Nick to the LAVA / Cherry Lane family. These are exactly the kind of high quality artists we were hoping to attract through the JV with Jason.”

“I am delighted that these two wonderful artists have chosen LAVA/Cherry Lane to be their publisher. I am looking forward to helping them fulfill their amazing potential as artists and writers” notes Jason Flom, President of LAVA Music Publishing.
