Join a Task Force!

The membership of The Mars Society possesses an incredibly broad range of experiences, education, interests, and abilities. The scope of Task Force activities should provide a role for anyone who wishes to become actively involved in helping The Mars Society further the goal of human exploration and eventual settlement of the planet Mars.

To become actively involved in any of these activities, please contact the current chair and offer your talents to the cause.

Mars Analog Research Stations Task Force

This Task Force is responsible for the design and development of our Mars Analog Bases. This task force will work on all phases of project development and provide The Mars Society with periodic detailed reports of progress. More…

Education Task Force

The Education Task Force will be responsible for the development and promotion of educational curricula and projects regarding Mars, aimed at Elementary, Secondary and University level students. The Education Task Force is also responsible for "selling" both school districts and individual educators on the presentation of Mars based curricula to students. More…

Engineering Task Force

Also known as the Engineering Team, this group keeps the behind-the-scenes systems working at the Mars Society Analog Stations. Through their work, the infrastructure is constantly maintained and upgraded to insure that the Habs remain not only a productive work space, but a safe one as well. More…

Fundraising Task Force

The Fundraising task force will actively solicit contributions from large donors, both corporate and private. This task force will prepare a list of "target market" donors and develop a strategy for contacting them and communicating the message of the Mars Society in such a way as to reflect both credibility and excitement. The Fundraising Task force will also develop material regarding our intended projects and overall financial picture, to ensure that donors feel comfortable with the Mars Society as a recipient of their generosity. PR/Marketing Task Force

This Task Force will produce graphic materials such as Videos, Audio Tapes, CD's, overheads, slides, brochures, design work, etc. in support of the work of the other task forces, chapters, and the International Headquarters of the Mars Society. The graphics and productions group will develop ideas for productions, ranging from documentary films, to radio shows, to planetarium shows, that carry the message of the Mars Society. The PR/Marketing Task force will also be responsible for designing a concerted short and long-range Marketing Strategy for the Mars Society. They will assist the Fundraising and Outreach Task forces in identifying groups to target for fundraising and recruitment and developing strategies for reaching the target markets. They will also come up with ideas for Mars Society related products and various approaches for marketing the products. More…

Political Task Force

The purpose of the U.S. Political Task Force is to support the endeavor of The Mars Society to establish a human mission to Mars as the primary goal of the U.S. Space Program. This will be accomplished by means of an aggressive campaign of contact with our elected officials asking them to actively support the required technologies and legislation in support of this vision. Spacesuit Task Force

The Mars Society is going forward with plans to develop technology necessary for human missions to Mars. The Spacesuit Task Force was created in August 2000 at the 3rd International Mars Society Convention in order to raise funds and pursue research into the development of the first spacesuit capable of sustaining a human on Mars for up to 300 excursions to the cold and dusty environment of its surface. Chapters Coordination Task Force

This task force shall insure propagation of useful experience between chapters, make sure that chapters are mobilized to support national or international campaigns and projects, and perform other chapters coordination activities. More…
