[Update 3: Official trailer and screens here.]

[Update 2: Added video from Shoryuken. Watch out! It's loud!]

[Update: Added some screens via Hadoken.]

Capcom's "Street Fighter and beyond" panel at SDCC is going on as we speak. News from the panel has just leaked out that the rumored Street Fighter/Tekken crossover titles are for real. Just like we heard, there will be two games in this crossover, one that plays like Street Fighter, and the other that plays like Tekken. Some sort of tag-team gameplay will be involved in at least one of the two games. Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter are their titles.

The "X' is pronounced "cross". Why couldn't they just call it "Street Fighter Cross Tekken"? Why must they confuse me so?

No release dates have been announced, but we're hearing that the games aren't coming until after Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is released, don't expect anything until after Spring 2011.

That's all I got for now. Expect this post to be updated as more news trickles in.

Well that's disappointing. I don't care for Tekken at all so I'll just stick with Capcom's other fighting games.

Oh god, this is a disaster. I sense another Capcom Fighting Evolution coming on. And Capcom was doing so good at making things lately.

Meh. I'm no fan of Street Fighter or Tekken so the announcement doesn't interest me.

Capcom, where is Dark Stalkers ?

MvC3 >>> these, but still I'm probably going to have fun with both versions of this crossover.

I'll take Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, thanks. After Capcom vs SNK and CvS2, no more style mixing. It just doesn't end well.

So from the two, I'll take the one by Capcom, but I'll probably take MvC3 over both. It has Amaterasu, Dante and Wolverine in it.

I'm not a huge Tekken fan, so the crossover aspect isn't too exciting for me, but I really like the idea of having two separate games. Definitely going to keep an eye on these two.

I'm loving this news. Tekken and Street Fighter have always been two of my favorite franchises, and in terms of prominence and popularity, are the top dogs of 2D & 3D, so it makes perfect sense. Can't wait to play both versions! I also love the other news and hints at the press conference.

This looks much more to my tastes than Marvel 3. I liked CvS2 more than Marvel 2, and I have faith that both games will be great games. And since I enjoy both Tekken 6 and Street Fighter 4, I'll likely end up with both of these.

This news makes me happy.

@roager How can you compare Capcom vs SNK 2 to this? SNK has a group of characters that mesh well with Street Fighter characters. Tekken has juggling and fail.

Honestly, wayyyyy too many fighting games, so I'll keep the ones with characters Icare about from a decent fighting franchise.

i.e. Not Tekken.

Missed opportunity :(

Why limit themselves to SF vs Tekken when Capcom vs Namco would have been MUCH better AND easier to balance?

Dig Dug vs Super Joe? Samanosuke vs Mitsurugi? Devil Jin vs Dante?

Don't they ALL sound MUCH better than Ryu vs Kazuya?...Though I'll admit, I WOULD like to see Zangief vs Kuma very, very much :D

soooo many fighting games this gen jesus. SSFTHDremix, street fighter 4, ssf4, tats vs cap, mvc3, now these two fighters?

Chill... take a breath. Let us enjoy the games you just got out or just announced before announcing some more.

Also...
Not on the wii. I have no surprise. :\

Tekken? Really???

I'm not so sure if I really see their relevance. In the end... this just might their competition more relevant and thus pose a challenging conflict of interest.

Tekken has been garbage to me since 4. As a hardcore dissapointed fan who sunk hundreds of hours of play for tekken tournies, I'm done with the series.

Street Fighter hasn't had a bad main series game yet. Hell I even liked the externally developed EX series.

Lol, it's funny how you guys claim MvC 3 will be so much better than these games, even though nobody here has played any of these crossovers. I have a crazy idea:

Why don't we actually play these games before we act like we know what they will be like? I know it sounds crazy, but it makes sense.
