The Oakland Raiders have announced the signing of first-round draft pick Rolando McClain, the highest-drafted player to sign so far this year.
McClain, a Butkus Award-winning linebacker from Alabama, was taken with the eighth overall pick in the draft.
McClain is the third first-round pick to sign a contract, following Dez Bryant of the Cowboys and Devin McCourty of the Patriots.
The Raiders have now signed all nine of their draft picks in time to have them all on the field for their first training camp practice Thursday.

This isn't a surprise. We always knew there wasn't going to be a holdout for 2 reasons:
1) The Raiders have a good track record getting their picks in (JaMarcus the exception)
2) Rolando McClain is a high character kid, not to mention a beast at middle linebacker!
Raiders are back! Prediction: AFC West Title - Oakland Raiders 10-6. Chargers have issues internally and LT is gone, Denver is weak and QB issues are coming, and KC is just beginning to experiment with the rebuilding process. Jason Campbell is the only obstacle for Oakland to dominate the AFC West.
All the kids are signed and ready to go, this is one hungry group.

As a born and bred Denver fan.....it truly pains me to say this...but the Raiders do look very competitive on paper at least.
Personally I would be happy to see the Raiders return to some form of a decent team. The old Broncos/Raiders games were so intense and competitive....it would be nice to see that atmosphere again.
The Raiders have had a great off season, sadly.
They are gonna be VERY competitive in the West.
Wonder how much they overpaid him by. This is the same team that gave DHB $38.5M at the #7 spot last year, after all.
Raiders are looking at 4-12. They have no O-line or receivers. The def may be decent but they are still a few years away.

As a chiefs fan I am glad the raiders and chiefs are rising. They are great games to watch no matter how bad the season is. But if both seasons are strong the better the respect by the nation. It's time for a rise of the afc west. The chargers an broncos are in trouble finally!!

Regardless of how things transpire, the Raiders have seemingly pulled their collective shit together this off season.
For the first time in a long time, some of the NFL's most historic franchises could well be post-season bound (49ers, 'fins etc.) and if the silver and black can gel, the AFC West or wild card berth can be within reach.

I think you have Oakland confused with some nameless place in the south. Anyway, not very original. Not really surprising though coming from a Donkey fan. A guy whose hopes are riding on a very suspect passer drafted way too high, who would rather have pictures taken of himself in his underwear than sign a contract and start playing football with his teammates.
I like what the Raiders did in the offseason. Now, if they can use McFadden & Bush properly & DON'T try to put K Wimbley as a 4-3 LB, they should have some success.
For those of you Raiders fans who keep mentioning Wimbley as a LB, you need to get a clue about football. Wimbley is a 4-3 end, 3-4 OLB. If used as a LB in the 4-3, you will be crushed by opposing RB's & TE's in the passing game to his side.

If that isn't your front 7, your defense will not be improved vs. the run. If it is, & your Running game is better used, you have a good chance @ that division. I really like the addition of Jason Campbell & think AD got a steal there!

If you think the Raiders suck, then you must be devasted by what McDaniels has done to your team. Get's rid of a franchise QB and a franchise WR. Trades Hillis, who is a beast, for Quinn and still drafts Tebow. So now starts a QB mess with Orton in the mix. If the Raiders can beat the Chargers at home in October, we will win the division.
