Software Developer, IMDb Content Technology (Bristol, UK or Seattle, WA)

IMDb, the world's most popular movie website, is looking for Software Developers to join its Content Technology team.

The Content Technology team creates the applications, automated processes and web-services at the heart of IMDb's massive user-generated content. We're designing and building state-of-the-art systems for ingesting, managing, manipulating and publishing data. Our dataset is used extensively for casting by film industries worldwide, it's the primary reference source for movie journalists, and our site consistently attracts more unique visitors than any other movie web-site. Our challenge is to maximise our acquisition of content while maintaining our reputation as the most accurate source of movie and celebrity data in the world.

The qualified candidate: will have experience reading existing code; will be able to comprehend many different co-operating services; will be comfortable working in a mixed environment of gnarly legacy code and shiny new web-services; would relish the chance to build lean SOA systems and learn to scale them to IMDb proportions; will be able to rapidly prototype solutions; will work well as a peer in a small team of talented engineers; will be able to communicate clearly and succinctly; and above all will have a passion for learning and improvement.

We develop primarily in Perl, but we're happy to accept candidates with experience in other languages.Responsibilities include:

Web Development Engineer (Seattle, WA)
