Kirton Research Centre
THE KIRTON RESEARCH CENTRE CLOSED ON 28 FEBRUARY 2009
The Kirton site has played an important role for many years with local horticultural and agricultural industries in research and knowledge transfer. We acknowledge the support of many local enterprises over this time. Unfortunately, the costs of running the specialist facilities at Kirton has outstripped the income from commercial and public funding agencies over recent years leading to the decision to close the site.
Warwick HRI, the University department specialising in plant and crop science, remains committed to the delivery of a full range of fundamental strategic and applied research along with knowledge transfer. The University has a unique combination of interdisciplinary expertise to help research and solve major challenges in the areas of sustainable crop production, climate change and bioenergy. Scientists in the Department will continue to work with partners to deliver research and development.
