White Rejoins Team, Arrington Passes Physical

July 31, 2010 | Last Updated: 7/31/10 8:59 PM ET | Comments (0)

Linebacker and special teams maven Tracy White has rejoined the team, inking a one-year deal today. To accomodate White on the roster, running back Martell Mallett was released.

Also, running back J.J. Arrington, who was acquired last night in exchange for linebacker Joe Mays, passed his physical and will join the team for tomorrow morning's practice.

White spent the last two seasons with the Eagles, appearing in 26 games, while recording 22 tackles (15 solo), one interception and one fumble recovery. In 2009, he led the team in special teams production points (385). He's best suited for the weakside linebacker position.

Originally a rookie free agent signing of Seattle in 2003, White (6-0, 230) spent one season in Jacksonville (2005) and two seasons in Green Bay (2006-07) before signing with the Eagles in 2008.

The addition of Arrington left the Eagles heavy at running back, so Mallett, the reigning Canadian Football League Most Outstanding Rookie who was signed in January, was released to make room for White.

Head coach Andy Reid said earlier today that Arrington will be competing Charles Scott and Eldra Buckley for the third running back job.
