Eagles Re-Sign Perry; Release DE Moncur
August 2, 2010 | Last Updated: 8/2/10 12:08 PM ET | Comments (1)

Jared Perry has racked up the frequent flyer miles in the past few days. After taking part in a tryout last Thursday, Perry was signed to a contract and on Saturday morning - during the first full-contact practice - showed a little flash with an impressive touchdown catch in the red zone drills. However, Perry was released when the Eagles inked Kelley Washington to a contract and it looked like the former Missouri receiver's tenure with the Eagles was over.

But not so.

With injuries to DeSean Jackson (lower back strain) and Jordan Norwood (hamstring), the Eagles re-signed Perry on Monday morning. To make room for him on the 80-man roster, the Eagles released defensive end Eric Moncur. Originally a rookie free agent signing of the San Francisco 49ers following the 2010 draft, Perry (6-1, 177) played in 52 games (27 starts) at the University of Missouri, and recorded 137 receptions for 1,844 yards and 13 touchdowns in his career. He was released by the 49ers on July 26.

A college teammate of Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin and TE Martin Rucker, the 22-year-old Perry finished second on the team with 46 receptions for 696 yards and six TDs as a senior in 2009. He also earned honorable mention freshman All-America honors in 2006. A native of La Marque, TX, Perry starred in both football and track at La Marque HS.
