 In The Community

7-Eleven® stores are part of the neighborhood and committed to serving the changing needs of our customers.  Being a good neighbor and corporate citizen is part of doing business at 7-Eleven, and we are proud of our long history of supporting our neighborhoods in meaningful ways through our community relations initiatives.

Our mission is simple:  to serve the needs of the communities in which 7-Eleven® stores operate. We believe the most effective way to advance our mission is to support causes that are aligned with community and customer interests and enhance the overall quality of life in neighborhoods where our customers, franchisees and employees live, work and play.  That’s why our community relations initiatives are generally focused at the local level and on four key areas associated with strong communities and citizens: safety, education, health & wellness and community revitalization.  Priority is given to youth programs to ensure we build a strong foundation for the next generation.

Over the past 32 years, through corporate-, franchisee-, employee- and customer-donation programs, 7-Eleven has contributed more than $100 million in cash and in-kind products to advance its charitable mission.

RESPONSIBLE RETAILING
Our commitment to responsible retailing is an important business principle at 7-Eleven and part of what makes the company a welcome and respected neighbor.  More than 20 years ago, 7-Eleven set the standard for responsible retailing in the convenience industry by being the first retailer to develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the safe and legal sale of age-restricted products.

7-Eleven considers it a privilege to sell age-restricted products, such as alcohol and tobacco, and we want to ensure that they are sold in a legal and responsible manner.  Our Come Of Age awareness and personnel-training program was originally designed to prevent the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors or intoxicated persons and to prevent on-premises consumption.  This acclaimed initiative was expanded to include all age-restricted products -- tobacco, lottery tickets and potential inhalants.  Also, 7-Eleven stores’ registers automatically prompt sales associates to check identification when an age-restricted product is scanned for sale.
