Rachel Bilson, Hayden Christensen engagement is over

August 10, 2010 |  6:26 pm

Jumpers-rachel-hayden It wasn't really a break, it was a break up -- Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen are no longer engaged.

No details were given through official channels, but geographical incompatibility seems to have played a role, according to a People source.

The couple, who got engaged in February 2008, announced in June they were taking "taking a break," with Bilson appearing in public without her engagement ring.

Now, we assume Rachel will never see this post (she recently told InStyle UK that she "would never want to read or hear anything about myself. It is poison.") but nevertheless, with looks like this, we doubt she'll have trouble getting a date the minute she's ready.

Hayden, meanwhile, caught a ride to last week's "Takers" after-party in an SUV with Sophie Monk -- according to Just Jared, she's a pal of his older brother Tove Christensen, who drove.

Every day they wake up, then one day there's a break-up -- lonely is a man without love.

PREACH IT! Of course celebrities get special treatment in jail! Right, Lindsay Lohan?

August 10, 2010 |  4:06 pm
Lindsay Lohan in court on July 20, 2010 The next time some law-enforcement person stands up in front of a microphone and intones to the press that stars get the same treatment as every other prison inmate, you have official permission from Team Preach It, if not all of the Ministry of Gossip, to tell said law enforcement person to stuff it. The law-enforcement person is most likely lying or at the very least out of touch. Every time a star gets out of jail, the special privileges they get grow increasingly obvious.

Defense attorneys, including one who used to work for Britney Spears, have told Preach It about the sorts of privileges stars get behind bars. Those perks often include getting a pass on the strip search and easier access to doctors and prescriptions, not to mention fewer hours in custody overall.

Now comes a former fellow inmate of Lindsay Lohan, who recently spent 13 days at the Century Regional Detention Facility, nee the Lynwood Correctional Facility. The inmate tells Radar that the actress got plenty of kid-glove handling there.

“The entire jail was put on lockdown any time Lindsay left her cell,” the woman, known as Katie A., told the online tab. “It felt like we were constantly on lockdown.”

Acne treatment spokesmodel Justin Bieber puts his face on the line

August 10, 2010 |  1:56 pm
Justin-bieber-skin

This extreme closeup of Justin Bieber's T-Zone is brought to you by a gobsmacked Ministry of Gossip, which is confused to announce that the pop phenom has become a spokesman for an acne treatment.

Seriously, folks, it's easier to find a picture of Kristen Stewart with a smile than Justin Bieber with a blemish.

Other famous faces on the Proactiv payroll -- as seen on TV -- have included, among others, a pranked P. Diddy, Avril Lavigne, Jessica Simpson and Katy Perry, who at least had the decency to break out once in a while.

Click the picture if you want to see it even bigger. And tell us in comments if you can see a zit. Gross, we know, but now we're fixated.

Fantasia Barrino hospitalized for overdose of medication

August 10, 2010 | 12:44 pm

Fantasia-barrino Fantasia Barrino was hospitalized for treatment of a "medication overdose" Monday night, sources tell WCNC NewsChannel 36 in Charlotte, N.C.

Barrino's rep confirmed the overdose to TMZ on Tuesday.

Whether the "American Idol" winner's reported overdose was accidental or intentional was not known, according to WCNC's sources, who said that according to doctors, the incident was not life-threatening.

Barrino had a pretty lousy day Monday, when divorce papers accusing her of being a home wrecker went public. Her manager released a statement contradicting those accusations.

The singer had struggled with health issues during the Los Angeles run of "The Color Purple" in February, missing a number of shows due to vocal inflammation. (The Times did, incidentally, review her performance favorably.)

'Glee' star Matthew Morrison: You can go home again [Video] [Updated]

August 10, 2010 | 12:29 pm

While the Teen Choice Awards are great stomping grounds for the young stars of "Glee," there's a surefire place for fandemonium where Matthew Morrison is concerned -- his high school alma mater.

Web network Cambio shadowed the actor recently as he swung through his old stomping grounds, stopping at the Orange County High School of the Arts in Santa Ana to chat with the teacher he says inspired his popular character Will Schuester.

[For the record, 1:51 p.m.: An earlier version of this post placed OCHSA in Los Alamitos, where it was when Morrison attended. The school operated out of Los Alamitos High School until April 2000, when it was relaunched as a charter school in Santa Ana.]

Click on the image above to watch as Morrison reflects on the importance of the performing arts program he went through, talks with young talent and even leaves a parting gift -- a donation to the school for $15,000.

We're got more on the stars of 'Glee'. And remember that time Matthew Morrison did that Vogue shoot with no shirt? We're just sayin, here it is.

Britney Spears confirmed for 'Glee,' Ryan Murphy says

August 10, 2010 | 12:14 pm

Britney-spears

Oh baby, baby -- looks as if Britney Spears will be dancing her way to the set of "Glee."

In a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday, show creator Ryan Murphy said the pop star is a go to appear with his stable of young talent in an episode dedicated solely to her music.

"Britney, I think 100%, is going to be on the episode," Murphy said.

Murphy went on to say that the female cast members -- Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Dianna Agron and Naya Rivera to name a few -- will conjure Spears' spirit with the help of some ...

Getting down with the Teen Choice Award winners

August 10, 2010 |  9:47 am
Sandra-bullock-dancing

Kevin McHale at the Teen Choice Awards "The Twilight Saga" and those associated were the big winners at Monday's Teen Choice Awards, but Sandra Bullock did OK with "The Blind Side" and "The Proposal" as well -- plus Sandy got to make yet another award-show appearance with Betty White, who may now hold the title of the hardest working woman in showbiz. (Maybe someone should make sure Betty hasn't already taken her "best dance" trophy surfboard down the beach for a spin?)

To see highlights and lowlights of how the night went down, in pictures, click here. For a photo gallery of red-carpet arrivals, starting with a very slender Lea Michele, click the picture of "Glee's" Kevin McHale at left. (We love that hair so much we're running the pic into the ground!

Hollywood officially runs out of ideas for what to do with Levi Johnston — so why not make him a politician?

August 9, 2010 |  7:08 pm

Levi-johnston OK, wait -- this is which sign of the Apocalypse?

Levi Johnston and some of his newest Hollywood BFFs are shopping a reality TV show, "Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office," which will feature Johnston as he raises his son Tripp and, you know, seeks elected office in Wasilla, Alaska.

The office of mayor, actually.

(Anything here sounding familiar? Get it? Get it? Yeah, that's the joke! It's like totally almost as good as the concept for "Survivor" or "Mad Men" or "The Cosby Show" or even, you know, "M*A*S*H"!)

We envision potential audiences tuning in by the tens or even the dozens — perhaps even scores of people would watch! And we hope that if that were to happen, some nice person would promptly explain to Levi what a "score" is, when the subject is not hockey or Bristol Palin.

The production company's description of the show comes via Variety: "He will give us a real inside look into who he is as a father, a skilled hunter, an avid dirt biker and his journey down the road of small-town politics ... right after he gets his high school diploma."

We imagine it'll be no biggie to Levi's "fellow Wasillians" (the production company's words, not ours); after all, the kid's famous and stuff — how hard could it be to run a small town, anyway?

If there were ever a time for a facepalm, it's now. Agree, or disagree? Please share your thoughts, in comments and vote for the appropriate network in our poll, right after the break.

Zsa Zsa Gabor will stay hospitalized to fight infection [Updated]

August 9, 2010 |  5:01 pm

Zsa-zsa-in-black Zsa Zsa Gabor has contracted an infection and won't be coming home from the hospital Monday as had been hoped, her publicist said Monday.

[Updated, 10:35 p.m.: Constance Francesca Hilton, Zsa Zsa's daughter, issued a statement late Monday: "My mother is very strong. I am amazed. This is one more setback that is real this time. Although this is not a serious infection, the doctors have her on the appropriate antibiotics. The outpouring of concern and good wishes for my mother is shown with messages coming in from around the world. My mother is aware and knows so many are thinking of her."]

The actress has been at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center since she broke her hip July 18. Hip replacement surgery done the next day was successful, according to Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, but since then the actress' condition has been a matter of some debate. He told ET Online on July 29 that Gabor was having a feeding tube put in.

An Associated Press call to Von Anhalt on Monday was not immediately returned.

Eva Mendes sex tape exists (and delivers)

August 9, 2010 |  4:27 pm

It was bound to happen, even to a sweet gal like Eva Mendes. Fashion plate, perpetual romantic lead and, let's face it, one of our tastier slices of gratuitous cheesecake -- even she has succumbed to the lure of the celebrity sex tape.

Perhaps not the way you were expecting, however (ahem, Montana Fishburne).

How did Mendes do the deed, without having the requisite PR blackout, Diane Sawyer interview and permanent place in the celebrity nude archive? Check out her tape, then dish with us in the comments section below.

Did we mention we have more gratuitous beefcake and cheesecake, including Kellan Lutz, Megan Fox, Cristiano Ronaldo and Taylor Lautner? Because we do. It's right next to our celebrity sex tape archive.

Star Sightings: Bobby and Jill Zarin's 10th anniversary; Kanye West sees red

August 9, 2010 |  4:19 pm
Kanye West in Calvin Klein How refreshing to see that one of the "Real Housewives" is actually still married. This weekend in Las Vegas, Jill Zarin (of the New York wives) celebrated 10 years of wedded bliss with husband Bobby.

Holding court at Las Vegas' Union Restaurant and Lounge in the Aria, the couple snacked on lobster and even got a visit from fellow cast member Kelly Bensimon before Union stargazers toasted them with a personalized cake.

Also getting his casino on was Kellan Lutz, who visited the East Coast's Borgata in Atlantic City. The "Twilight Saga" actor hit up Sunbar at the Water Club, where he sat with friends in a private cabana. Lutz did a little moonlighting as DJ, playing some Michael Jackson tracks for swooning female fans.

A seriously long hop and skip away from A.C., Kanye West made an appearance Thursday at Singapore's SINGfest, where he donned a bold red Calvin Klein suit for his set on stage.

West served a nice appetizer for the music festival that would happen back in the States over the weekend, Chicago's Lollapalooza. At the Hard Rock Hotel Music Lounge, singer Ke$ha stepped out with her new man ...

PREACH IT! Know what, Whoopi? Gloria Allred is right

August 9, 2010 |  4:09 pm
Whoopi-goldberg-press-confe

And in our main tent: Gloria Allred versus Whoopi Goldberg in a debate over battered women -- with Allred cleaning Goldberg’s clock.

When Goldberg first showed up on "The View", the big question was which side she’d support: the dingbat Sherri Shepherd/Elisabeth Hasselbeck bloc, or the faction chaired by Joy "Who Cares?" Behar. Turns out, neither was correct. Goldberg actually belongs to a third column -- rich, famous, out-of-touch people whose grandees include folks such as Mel "You Deserved It" Gibson.

Goldberg’s latest gaffe came last week, when the executive vice president from gossip site RadarOnline came on "The View" as a guest. The hosts asked David Perel why Gibson’s ex ...

Portia de Rossi wants to adopt Ellen DeGeneres' last name

August 9, 2010 |  3:18 pm

Portia-de-rossi Portia de Rossi has petitioned the Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her last name legally from "de Rossi" to "DeGeneres."

The actress married Ellen DeGeneres on Aug. 16, 2008, during the period when same-sex marriages were legal and licenses were being issued. The request for the name Portia Lee James DeGeneres was filed Friday, though the document made available by E! Online was signed by De Rossi in March. De Rossi, born Amanda Lee Rogers, first changed her name at age 15, she told the Advocate last year.

For those of us who must get celebrity names right on a regular basis, Portia's decision is nothing short of a blessing -- because really, it just sounds like it should be spelled "di Rossi." (That opinion, incidentally, from an expert on pain-in-the-rear last names, both famous and civilian.)

Weigh in on married names if you so desire, in comments and in the poll below.

Backstage with Jason Derulo, Leighton Meester at the Teen Choice Awards [video] [updated]

August 9, 2010 |  3:17 pm

It wasn't exactly packed backstage at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, but a few winners did fight the urge to jump immediately into those black limos and chauffeured Escalades and hit the road. "Gossip Girl" actress Leighton Meester, soccer star David Beckham and singer Jason Derulo were some of the few who opted instead to pose next to their surfboard trophies and talk to the media.

"The energy from the fans was incredible," said Derulo, who had just finished a performance of his hit single "In My Head."

Kevin McHale at the Teen Choice Awards "The teens is like, my demographic, so it's always awesome."

Derulo, evidently, is keenly aware of his demographic. When asked what he'd do to celebrate his wins, he offered up this age-appropriate answer:

"I'm gonna have some apple cider and just kind of chill and relax," the 20-year-old said. "I already felt like a winner before I came here, so it's just like the cherry on the pie."

Other winners had less glamorous post-award-show plans. "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester -- who was voted best actress -- was headed straight to the airport to fly back to New York, where her CW show is currently filming. (Keep reading -- there's more video after the break.)

Zac Efron on Vanessa Hudgens, Tom Cruise and why he turned down 'Footloose'

August 9, 2010 |  2:07 pm

Zac-efron-details There's a chatty lining to "Charlie St. Cloud," meaning its headliner, Zac Efron, recently opened up about girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, his motorcycle date with Tom Cruise and why he turned down the lead in the "Footloose" remake.

"Believe me, I rack my brain thinking, 'Why am I not out there playing the field?' One of my buddies was like, 'You have no idea what’s going on right now. You’re peaking on Ecstasy and you’re watching TV.' But it's not in my heart," he says about girlfriend Hudgens, in the new issue of Details magazine.

He calls the love between him and his "High School Musical" costar "exactly how it should be. It's real."

A more surreal experience occurred recently when Efron visited talent agency CAA and was flagged down in the lobby by Tom Cruise, who asked if the young star knew how to ride a motorcycle. After Zac admitted he didn't, Cruise offered to teach him.

The two spent a day talking about how the smaller engines work, followed by a tour of the hangar that Cruise keeps his bikes in.

"It’s just so cool," Efron said, "... the fact that he cared at all."

Perhaps the actors talked shop, as Efron certainly has his pick of projects these days, including ...
