Street Lights

Street lights in Abilene are maintained by the following entities: the City of Abilene, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), American Electric Power (AEP), and Taylor Electric Cooperative.

Most of the street lights (8700+) are owned and maintained by AEP. The street lights that are maintained by the other entities are described below. If the street light in question is not the responsibility of one of these entities, then it is probably maintained by AEP. To report a street light that is maintained by AEP, call 1-866-223-8508. This is the AEP toll free number that will connect you with one of their call centers. There will be a menu to navigate through. After reporting the outage, you should request a report number. This number is required if you want to check on the status of the repair at a later time.
