Tottenham have reportedly joined the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb, who is set to leave the Camp Nou this summer.

The Daily Mail claims that Hleb, who has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Sevilla, has been told that he is surplus to requirements for next season, and Harry Redknapp is set to end his disastrous spell in Catalunya.

The Belarus international, who spent last season on loan at previous club Stuttgart, did not feature in Barcelona’s team photograph for the 2010-11 season, and a bid in the region of €10 million (£8.23m) would be enough to secure the 29-year-old’s signature.

Hleb was one of Pep Guardiola’s first signings upon taking charge at the Spanish giants in 2008, sealing his signature from Arsenal for a fee of €16m (£13.1m), but after a hugely disappointing spell he was loaned out to Bundesliga side Stuttgart last year. Upon his return he was told by Guardiola to begin searching for a new club.

The player’s agent, Oliver Mintzlaff, confirmed interest from the White Hart Lane club, and also that of Sevilla, and the two sides will compete for Hleb’s signature with the transfer deadline day fast approaching.
