While advanced medical technology and competent staff are crucial to the healing process, cheerful and energetic surroundings can make a significant difference in the recovery of sick children. Over the past ten years, Speediatrics has been making that difference for hundreds of critically ill children.
Speediatrics provides the colorful thrills of an auto racing environment, making hospital stays more comfortable for young patients. Each Speediatrics waiting room, hallway, nurse station and patient room is adorned with a motorsports theme, including racecars, checkered flags and colorful cartoon characters. Patients also enjoy surprise visits from NASCAR drivers and team members throughout the year.
In 2010, The NASCAR Foundation and Halifax Medical Center are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Speediatrics. In honor of reaching this milestone, Speediatrics will get a full makeover. The updates are made possible by contributions made by The NASCAR Foundation from funds raised through its annual NASCAR Day program. Thanks to the support of Daytona Beach-area businesses and fans, The NASCAR Foundation raised more than $150,000 for Speediatrics last year.
