Tunisia sends humanitarian relief aid to Pakistan
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- Following the floods that recently hit Pakistan causing a great number of casualties and displaced persons, Tunisia dispatched on Wednesday a plane load of 13 tons of food products, medicine, blankets and clothes.
Mr. Naceur Gharbi minister of Social Affairs, Solidarity and Tunisians Abroad stressed the humanitarian dimension of President Ben Ali’s decision to send assistance to Pakistan, in materialization of Tunisia’s solidarity with this brotherly country in this difficult situation.
On his part, Mr. Athar Mahmoud Pakistan’s ambassador in Tunis hailed Tunisia’s solidarity act and its positive and quick reaction to the call launched by his country and by the UN authorities to provide emergency aid to victims.
He also expressed gratitude to President Ben Ali’s initiative to send a plane load of humanitarian aid, a humanitarian act which coincides with the Holy Month of Ramadan.
“It is a noble action which reflects the strong relations binding both countries”, he said.
