Acme Features is the syndicate that handles Matt Groening's Life in Hell cartoon strip.

Matt Groening started out delivering papers for the LA Reader back in the late 70's. He eventually talked his way into writing a column called Sound Mix, which started out as a music column but morphed into Matt's rantings about Anything and Everything.

When Matt moved to LA from Oregon in the 1970's he kept in touch with his friends via a little comic book he hand drew called Life in Hell. Many of the ideas from his column and his comic book eventually merged into what became known as the Life in Hell comic strip. The strip made it's debut in the LA Reader on April 25, 1980.

Life in Hell started running in the LA Weekly in 1986. It was soon after, that James Brooks saw the strip and wanted to animate it for the Tracey Ullman Show. Matt had another idea, and The Simpson's were born. The rest, as they say, is h$story.

Life in Hell has been running in alternative papers for the better part of 2 decades. We are proud to be a part of AAN and we thank the alternative press for its many years of loyalty and support.
