NAIROBI, 20 August 2010 (PlusNews) - Only a third of Kenyans infected with tuberculosis and HIV are receiving treatment for both conditions, despite the latest World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines recommending that anti-retrovirals be taken soon after TB treatment begins.

The UN Secretary General is inviting civil society organizations to give their input on how to promote and implement human rights-based HIV/AIDS programmes as part of his upcoming report in accordance with Human Rights Council resolution 12/27.

The Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) is looking to fund women-led initiatives tied to the 16 Days Global Campaign in southern Africa.

This two-week short-course will focus on most-at-risk populations such as men who have sex with men, and injecting drug users. The course is geared towards those working in the HIV/AIDS sector, including researchers and students, and is open to candidates from across Africa.
