NIGER: Almost 200,000 displaced by floods
DAKAR, 27 August 2010 (IRIN Africa) - Further heavy rains in Niger have caused the number of people displaced by flooding to soar from 111,000 last week to 198,740 this week, says the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which is calling on donors and aid agencies to urgently send shelter materials, blankets and mosquito nets.

YEMEN: Food aid delays hit IDPs in Amran Governorate
AMRAN, 17 August 2010 (IRIN Middle East) - Thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the northern Yemeni governorate of Amran, including 1,800 in the governorate’s only IDP camp, Khaiwan, have been hit by food aid delivery delays, according to aid workers.

PAKISTAN: Aid scrums hard on weakest
MULTAN, 17 August 2010 (IRIN Asia) - At a relief camp near the southern Punjab city of Multan, two boys, not yet in their teens, share a small plate of rice. “This is the first time we have eaten in over a day,” Shahid Muhammad, 12, told IRIN. He has been looking after his younger brother, Inamullah, 10, since the two were separated from their parents and two sisters three days ago.

SUDAN: Aid agencies granted access to Kalma amid expulsions
NAIROBI, 17 August 2010 (IRIN Africa) - Fourteen days after Sudanese authorities cut off aid to Kalma, the largest internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in South Darfur, three international NGOs and UN agencies (the UN Children’s Fund, World Food Programme and Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, OCHA) have been allowed to re-enter the settlement.

SUDAN: Thousands struggle to survive as Kalma aid cut off
NAIROBI, 12 August 2010 (IRIN Africa) - Aid agencies are still barred from Kalma, the largest settlement for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan’s Southern Darfur State, 10 days after the government blocked the UN and NGOs from distributing food and medical aid to an estimated 82,000 IDPs.
