Aaron Ward, the 37-year-old defenseman from Windsor, Ontario, has decided to hang up his skates after playing 15 NHL seasons.

After being drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in 1991, Ward played for the Detroit Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, and Anaheim Ducks.

A steady defenseman, Ward registered 44 goals and 151 points in 839 regular season games and four goals and 10 points in 95 playoff games.

He won three Stanley Cups with Detroit (1997 and 1998) and Carolina (2006).
