I'll bet when you read the heading for this week's article, you savvy thing, you thought I was going to give you a hard time for letting too much valuable content slip through your fingers without your getting compensated for it.
Perhaps you had an image of money falling out of your hands and into your audience and market without your knowing, like it is in the picture here?
Not at all. I'm not going to give you a hard time about ANYTHING you're doing, mostly because it's not my style, but also because I'd like to encourage you to take a different view with this topic.
Who do you like doing business with? Is it the vendor who makes you pay for every little bit of value and information you get out of them, or is it someone whose value is totally obvious right from the word go in every interaction you have with them?
Hmmm. So... if you like doing business with the obviously valuable vendor, then how can you become one yourself and win a similar degree of loyalty from your market?
Give your best stuff away.
Yes, you heard me right. Give your best stuff away.
How do you do this?
Remember when we talked about spring cleaning your time last week? And about letting go of everything that's holding you back from moving forward?
What if I told you that your best ideas are holding you back if you hide them away from your market for "later"?
It's true. The best thing you can do with your big great juicy ideas is share them. Do it in videos, articles, blog posts, talks, or with your clients. Don't hide them away, because this fosters a belief that there will never be another idea that's as good and that you'd better save this one really carefully.
This kind of thinking should set off alarm bells in your head. Always let go of your best and always present your best to your clients and *especially* your potential clients. Give them the best you can offer and you will be repaid with loyalty and a solid fan base -and- repeat business.
The other beautiful part of this equation is that once you let go of the greatest ideas of right now, you have made room for the greatest ideas of later today and tomorrow and next week to start warming up to move in. Don't slow that process down!
So just this week... practice giving your best stuff away and see what the result is.
Share it with us on the blog!
