Our premier tour—ride the train, hike in the rainforest, have a gourmet picnic lunch under a spreading tree then, for dessert, sample fresh tropical fruits you pick directly from the tree.

Your tour begins in our authentic Hawaiian train depot. Check in with the stationmaster, then take a few minutes to explore our unusual train depot shop. Here you will find many hand crafted items made right here on Kauai.

In a few short minutes you hear the approach of the train. You step out onto the boarding platform and watch as the engine appears out of the jungle. It winds it's way past a garden in bloom with tropical flowers.

Imagine… you walk through a tropical rainforest bursting with exotic plants and flowers. Drop down into a hidden valley. Walk along rushing creeks. See the sun filter through the rainforest canopy. Be surrounded by huge, lush, green plants.

After climbing back out of the valley it's lunchtime! Site down with your fellow hikers and enjoy a scrumptious picnic under the shade of our Norfolk pines.

For dessert you visit a working orchard where you can pick fruit right from the trees. You will see, smell—and taste!—fresh pineapple, bananas, papaya, sugar cane, rambutan, lychee, cherries, many many other exotic fruits depending on what's in season today.

You hear a whistle, then the clattering of the rails, and... your train pulls into view lead by ‘Ike“ our 1939 Whitcomb diesel engine. Ike pulls elegant mahogany coaches modeled after the personal car of King Kamehameha.

You board your coach for a relaxing and informative tour of the working farm that is Kilohana Plantation.

Along the way your conductor points out the more than 50 varieties of fruits and vegetables growing beside the tracks. You can sample many of these delightful treats at Gaylord’s when you return to the main station.

The train winds through sugar can fields backed by haunting mountains.

Your first stop is at a paddock housing wild pigs, goats, sheep, horses and other farm animals. Here you disembark. If you wish, your conductor will give you bread to feed the beasties–the very best way to make friends!

After a short stroll, you re-enter your elegant coach for your return trip to the Kilohana plantation mansion.

As you disembark from your train adventure, be sure to check out the many products in the depot store including fresh produce from the farm and one of a kind hand crafted items from Kauai artisans.

What would Hawaii be without hula? At Luau Kalamaku we give you hula, poi and so so much more.

Luau Kalamaku is Kauai's only theatrical luau. In addition to wonderful food, you are treated to a full scale theater experience unlike any other.

Hula dancers, fire poi ball twirlers, traditional Polynesian fire knife dancing and a vivid story line all combine for an unforgettable evening.

The evening starts with a dramatic torch lighting and then on to the imu ceremony where your main course is unearthed from our traditional underground imu (oven).

Then it's time for live Tahitian music, Hawaiian games, and hula dancing, of course! Our music is so authentic that even the drums are made by hand by the musicians themselves.

After fun and games outside in the elegant tropical garden you enter the theater. Here our state of the art media system and interactive stage design transport you to ancient Polynesia.

The storyteller relates to you the tale of the voyage of the first Hawaiian from their homeland of Tahiti to the Hawaiian islands. It is a tale of much hardship, drama and finally triumph.

All of this and ono (delicious) luau food too—there is just nothing else like Luau Kalamaku!

Why not indulge yourself with a delightful Train Ride–Luau adventure? Contact us for special rates!
