chapman.jpgMultiple media have reported that Aroldis Chapman, the Cuban pitcher in the Reds' farm system, hit 105 on the radar gun Friday night.

Chapman, pitching for the Triple A Louisville Bats, struck out the side in the top of the ninth to seal a 2-1 win over Columbus. Reports have indicated Chapman would be a September call-up by the Reds.

The Red Sox were in the mix for Chapman the last off-season, but the Reds won a courtship that included the Yankees, Angels, Blue Jays, and Mets. He began the season as a starting pitcher, but was switched to the bullpen.

Here's what Louisville manager Rick Sweet told the Columbus Dispatch:

"I will say that's the first time we've seen 105 on the (radar) gun," Sweet said. "But we've had scouts tell us that they've gotten 105. So, yes, what you're seeing out of Chapman is what we've seen for the last two weeks."
