The Patriots acquired safety Jarrad Page from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a conditional draft choice, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports, citing a league source.
The 25-year-old Page, who was a restricted free agent, signed his contract Friday. At 6-foot-0, 225 pounds, he is a bigger safety who could play a Brandon McGowan-type role in the box.
McGowan missed the team's preseason finale because of an injury.
Page, who played in college at UCLA, spent the first four seasons of his career in Kansas City. He's played in 53 career regular-season games, with 39 starts.
Page, who played in just five games last season because of a calf injury, had requested a trade from the Chiefs, according to this Kansas City Star report.
