A.J. Ellis ran for 165 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Fresno State past Utah State 41-24 Saturday night. Quarterback Ryan Colburn also ran for 44 yards and threw for 149 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0 Western Athletic), who scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. ...More |

This week's game at Mississippi is the type of game that Pat Hill's Fresno State team has become famous for playing. The Bulldogs "anyone, anywhere, anytime" scheduling philosophy has been debated and scrutinized for years.
But Hill and his Bulldogs just keep playing BCS conference teams—and having a good showing. Fresno State has won six of its last eight games against BCS conference teams with its only losses to Wisconsin. Hill is 16-24 against BCS teams in his tenure.
Fresno State's 16 victories against BCS teams are the second-most since 2000 among non-BCS teams. Only Utah, with 17, has more.
The Bulldogs are 0-3 against SEC schools, but they might be catching Mississippi at the right time. ...More |
