Week 2 Teleconference  Week 1 in Review

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The BIG EAST Conference has named Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib, Syracuse safety Mike Holmes and Rutgers cornerback Brandon Bing the winners of the conference's first weekly football honors of the 2010 season.

Nassib was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after he had 287 yards of total offense and threw a pair of first-half touchdown passes in his first career start to lead Syracuse to a 29-3 win at Akron. He completed 17 of 27 passes for 229 yards, rushed for 58 yards on nine attempts and completed passes to seven different receivers.

Holmes was chosen as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after he had a team-high six tackles with one sack to lead a Syracuse defense that limited Akron to just three points and 166 yards of offense in the win against the Zips. Holmes also scored a touchdown on a 57-yard blocked field goal return in the third quarter.

Bing, who was tabbed BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week, keyed the Scarlet Knights’ 31-0 win against Norfolk State by blocking two punts to set up Rutgers scoring plays. His first block set up the opening field goal that gave Rutgers the only points it would need while his second was returned for a touchdown in the third quarter. Bing also finished with four tackles.
