INDIANA UNIVERSITY
DEPARTMENT OF INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS
MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is to provide an athletics program committed to integrity, fairness and competitiveness that is consistent with and in support of the mission of Indiana University.

FUNDAMENTAL GOALS

  1. To have all student-athletes progress each year toward graduation, culminating in an Indiana University degree.
  2. To be competitive in all sports.
  3. To maintain an equitable, balanced and well-rounded program for all participants.
  4. To support and encourage equitable treatment and opportunities for all students, coaches, and staff, including women and minorities, in all aspects of intercollegiate athletics at Indiana University.
  5. To facilitate the integration of the athletics department and the student-athletes into the university community.
  6. To comply fully with rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Big Ten Conference and Indiana University.
  7. To maintain a program that serves as a model for leadership that the university community and state of Indiana look upon with pride.
  8. To operate a fiscally sound and prudent athletic program.
