Honda Canada is not recalling the 2010 Accord Crosstour despite a recall of the vehicle in the United States.
Approximately 3,340 units in the US are being recalled to inspect and potentially replace the front passenger airbag after testing revealed that certain front passenger airbag modules installed in a limited number of 2010 Accord Crosstours do not meet one aspect of US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards that requires airbag deployment to be tested using an unbelted six year-old child test dummy in the front seating area. No incidents or injuries have been reported in Canada or the US related to this issue. (Honda recommends that children under the age of 12 be properly restrained in the vehicle’s rear seat.)
In Canada all of the affected vehicles (780 units in total) are compliant with the current requirements of Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS). However, Honda Canada Inc. said it will be conducting a "safety improvement campaign" and will notify all owners of affected vehicles to take their Accord Crosstour to an authorized dealer to have the front passenger airbag inspected and, if necessary, replaced. Written notification to owners will take place in September 2010.
Owners of these vehicles may also contact their dealer or call 1-888-946-6329.
