Letters to the Editor
Letters Policy
- The North County Times and The Californian are committed to an open letters forum as part of a free and strong community. We invite letters on topics of public interest, and make every effort to print each one of them.
- Writers must include their full first names with full middle names and last names, addresses and daytime phone numbers. Only the writer's name and community will be published. Unsigned letters will be discarded. We reserve the right to edit letters for any reason, including, but not limited to, taste, clarity, length and potential libel.
- Letters should be shorter than 200 words and will be shortened further when possible to help make space for all letters.
- Individual writers are limited to one letter or Community Forum approximately every two weeks. Priority is given to writers from North County and/or Southwest Riverside County.
- As of Aug. 20, 2010, our policy includes these changes: Letters should not engage in detailed or technical arguments about specialized topics beyond the scope of a general-circulation newspaper (i.e., philosophical, scientific or theological debates), nor use any quote longer than a sentence or two from other sources. Commercial complaints and endorsements ordinarily will not be published.
- Submissions may be sent using the form below; delivered to one of the office locations listed on the left; or sent via email to letters@nctimes.com or calopinion@californian.com.

Letter Submission Tips
- It may be best to create your letter in another writing program, then cut-and-paste the text into the form above.
