Minecraft Historic Sales (and plays) Data For just over a month now I have been logging Minecraft sales data, the following is that data charted in many fantastical ways. As you can see, there are multiple points where a spike in sales was seen, the most notable are the TF2 blog plug and the Machinima directors (SeaNanners etc) videos that have driven many sales. For information on each point rollover and it will give you the date and exact figure, dates are formatted month.day! Any references made to time are GMT.
Purchases vs. Registered (all time) this chart displays total registered users and upgraded (Purchased the game) users.
24 hour Purchases vs. 24 hour registrations this chart displays total registrations and purchases made in the 24 hours previous, the point used is the highest in the 24 hours.
24 hour Classic games played vs. Alpha games played this chart displays the amount of games played in both Alpha (survival - paid) and Classic (creative - free). Days where the number is very low is because minecraft.net crashed, for a game to be played (and counted) it must be "authenticated" with minecraft.net and if it's down, they can't be.
Daily user registration/upgrade breakdown The above table has individual data for each day (click the date for an hourly breakdown). It is not the same as "24 hours" data, it means the amount that happened during the midnight - midnight period for that day. The "upgrade percentage" refers to the amount of people who bought the game on that day vs the amount that registered, this is not 100% accurate though as some people upgrade days after they registered. If a row displays "n/a" it means the complete data is unavailable for that time, but there may still be some (albeit not completed) data available.
