Environmental Medicine

What is Environmental Medicine?

Environmental medicine is the comprehensive approach to medical care dedicated to evaluate, manage, and prevent the adverse consequences of environmentally triggered illnesses, which result when interactions among biological functions are compromised by external or internal stressors.

How environmental illnesses are treated

The most effective therapies are proactive and stress early assessments and interventions to maintain optimal physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychological heath and spiritual well-being. Short and long-term forms of therapy must be customized for each patient and may consist of any combination of the following treatment modalities:

  • Patient education
  • Therapeutic customized diets
  • Nutritional supplements
  • Immunotherapies
  • Psychotherapies
  • Detoxification therapies
  • Environmental controls
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Surgeries
