Fais

Fais

Located in the western Caroline Islands, the small island of Fais is located 87 km east from Ulithi and 251 km east-northeast from Yap; it is a member of Yap State. The closest neighbours to Fais are the reefs and islets of the Turlte Islands, 60 km to the northwest.

Shaped like a small fish, Fais is a raised coralline island of 2.6 km² area, with a maximum elevation of 18 m above sea level. A fringing reef and narrow lagoon surrounds much of the island but is absent on the northeast and southwest extremities where the land meets the sea in low cliffs.
