This is the start of district play for most of the state as the real playoff push begins now.
Southridge (Miami, Fla.) vs. South Dade (Homestead, Fla.)
Players to watch: Gerrod Holliman, DB/WR, Southridge (Ole Miss verbal); Jovani McCray, QB, South Dade.
Notes: This district rival continues from the second round of the playoffs last season when South Dade eliminated Southridge. Holliman had four interceptions and returned two for touchdowns in last week's victory over Varela (Miami, Fla.) Kathleen (Lakeland, Fla.) at Bartow (Fla.)
Players to watch: Gionni Paul, LB, Kathleen; Rod Smith, RB, Bartow.
Notes: This game has legs to it as Kathleen lost out on a district championship and the postseason after being turned in by Bartow for playing with an ineligible player. Both sides say the past is in the past but that remains to be seen.
