The Avalanche sent seven players to the American Hockey League this morning, including goalie Trevor Cann.

Cann played in the Avs' 3-1 victory over St. Louis on Tuesday, stopping all 24 shots he faced.

Colorado now has 34 players on its preseason roster. The club needs to get down to 23 by the season opener.

Among those sent down was defenseman David Liffiton, who played 21 minutes — second most on the team — against the Blues.

Left wings Tom Fritsche, Julian Talbot and David van der Guilk, and centers Greg Mauldin and Ben Walter also were reassigned.

All but Fritsche saw action in one of the first two exhibition games.
