= 810 Series
Datsun 200B GX sedan front
This is the first model Datsun 200B (Australian built except for the fully
imported SSS hardtop coupe), replacing the 180B (considered by some to be the
180B with 20 more mistakes), and with 2.0 litre four cylinder engine.
This was also known as Bluebird and 810 on other markets, and
the stretched nose 6 cylinder was later known as 810
Maxima in the US.
Australian Datsun 200B front quarter
Chrome tabs on top of front fenders cover the holes where the wing-mounted
mirrors were fitted on Japanese market cars!
Datsun 200B GX sedan rear
Datsun 200B GX sedan C pillar detail
The plastic covering was still very fashionable when the 200B was released;
this shows the interesting way that the C pillar mounted fuel filler panel was
treated when the vinyl roof was fitted.
Click on the picture to see how they did it with the equivalent 180B
sedan.
Australian Datsun 200B front design
This was a second series. The grille design was supposedly uniquely Australian
and the Australian designed and built seats were considered vastly superior to
those of previous models.
Japanese second series cars had quad square headlights, instead.
Datsun 200B GX wagon rear
Datsun 200B GX sedan side
By now the independant suspension rear had been replaced by a live axle on
all, supposedly for local content reasons.
Even from this angle you'll notice the front fender chrome tabs have gone!
Australian Datsun 200B Aspen edition
A special value pack, the Aspen introduced two tone paint in blue or
green editions, light over dark in either colour . This car is a little worse
for wear and the dark blue over the doors is signs of a probable rust repair).
sticker that identifies this limited edition (rather crazed with age).

Datsun 200B SSS coupe
The opera windowed but still hardtop coupes were only available in the first
series. They were fully imported as per the previous 180B
coupe. However for some reason this car is fitted with bumpers like the second
series sedans and wagons above but the grille was definitely first series.
Also unusual is the side stripe, similar to the special SX four door introduced late in the first
series' life.
SSS badge used for these models (mounted on the front fender behind the
wheelarch).
Datsun 200B SX sedan front
The SX model was introduced to spike interest in this model. Not a lot more than
a stripes and bright colour package nevertheless it had the desired effect.
Note that the grille was unique to this model but paved the way to the second
series design.
This model came in colours of red, silver, blue, and white I think.

This 1979 model is owned by Tim who lives in Melbourne who submitted the pics
(thanks, mate!). Tim writes "the mods I've done to her are: Lowered
suspension all round, Painted wheels (white), Sports exhaust (2 1/2"),
4-2-1 Extractors, Updated spray job and stripes (reflective)"
