[Update: Some of the story has been detailed. Asura's Wrath stars a former deity seeking revenge against gods who had betrayed him and stripped him of all his godly powers. This sounds AWFULLY familiar, doesn't it. Luckily, this game looks beyond epic. Check out the trailer we just got.]

Capcom has partnered up with developer CyberConnect 2 on a new series called Asura's Wrath. The game is a heavy hack 'n slash game using the Unreal Engine 3. Characters can summon gigantic god-like creatures to battle massive armies.

The key concept around the game as described by director Seiji Shimoda is that the game revolves around "wrath" and that it's more about the experience rather than just playing it.

Asura's Wrath will be out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We will update this post as soon as the reveal trailer becomes available. We hear it's nuts.

First! This game sounds sick. Always up for new Capcom properties.

Nice of capcom to throw in new franchises but then again. So many of their other franchises lay dormant that so many fans would like to see return. Such as dino crisis, onimusha, rival schools, darkstalkers, just to name a few.

POWER STONE that would be a nice reboot for a series especially for online play.

The trailer seems pretty cool, I sort of get a God Hand vibe with a bit of Platinum Games VS God of War (even though Platinum have nothing at all to do with this). Looking at CyberConnect2 they seem to deal with .hack// and Naruto games so hopefully this departure will be a success for both them and Capcom. Still waiting on Rival Schools 3 though.

Sounds nifty, despite the apparent similarites to GoW.

when I read the concept for this game, I thought to myself "play as a god? sounds interesting."

it wasn't until I saw the video that I shat my load.

yes, I shat it.

Holy crap, it's as if they were conciously making every effort imaginable to make the most manly game ever.

By the looks of this trailer, I'd say they're succeeding?

PS. They need to put this guy MvsC3 asap.

There's nothing wrong with being a douchebag. There are plenty of perfectly good douchebags out there that don't have opinions about video games.

Agreed, definitely some fist of the North Star there. But I definitely see the style of Cyber Connect; Animation is very much like .hack// G.U. and even the trailer music has that distinctive guitar wailing.

I can't trust a developer called CyberConnect2. Sounds like the url of one of those sketchy TV commercials that tell you they can get rid of spyware. "Just go to http://www.cyberconnect2.tv!"

Man, I love the apparent concept of taking hits, it always felt bad that a supposed badass like Kratos was made of wafer and couldn't take two or three solid hits.

Kind of reminded me of a Buddhist inspired GoW or Darksiders. All good to me. The guy's grunting made me laugh for some reason; I think there was something goofy about it.

This game (and music) reminds me a lot of Ultimate Ninja. (Which is a good thing.)
The graphics also look a lot like FotNS and SF4, except the style actually fits in this case.
I guess this is a definite DO WANT, though I'm getting real sick of these GoW-alikes.
