Deputy Minister of the Development of the Negev and Galilee, MK Ayoob Kara (Likud), said on Monday during the laying of a cornerstone for a community in Judea and Samaria: "The expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif brought zero results, the expulsion of the Israeli army from Lebanon has brought zero results, and the construction freeze brought zero results."

Kara added: "Today we return to build Gush Katif in Lachish and we will return to build Gush Katif near Gaza, because had we not left Gaza, Gilad Shalit would have stayed with us. Israel did not come to build democracy but came to build a state, and the flattery and the pragmatism are what need to be frozen, not construction."
