2nd Annual Bel Air Film Festival Kicks off at Bel Air Armory October 22-24

The Bel Air Cultural Arts Commission announces the 2010 Town of Bel Air Film Festival to be held October 22-24, 2010 at the Bel Air Reckord Armory, 37 North Main Street in Bel Air. This year’s movie lineup features intriguing, moving, and thought provoking films from around the world.
Opening night, Friday, October 22nd, features Academy Award winning Director and Maryland native Barry Levinson’s film The Band That Wouldn’t Die, which tells the story of the Baltimore Colts Marching Band and their quest to keep the spirit of professional football alive in Baltimore long after the franchise moved to Indianapolis. Special Guest speaker is John Ziemann, President of the Marching Ravens. Jack Gerbes, Director of the Maryland Film Office, and Rob Reier, Town of Bel Air Commissioner, will be on hand to open the festival. Doors open at 7:45pm with the screening at 8:15pm.
The lineup on Saturday includes the award winning film In Search of Cha Jung Hee at 4pm, and the heartwarming film A Shine of Rainbows, starring Aidan Quinn, at 7:30pm.
From 2pm until 4pm on Sunday, the event showcases student films from the local area. Admission is free. Students still have an opportunity to submit their films for screening until October 8, 2010 at 3 p.m. Films must be in DVD format and be no longer than 10 minutes in length.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday films are $5 per person and include one complimentary soda and popcorn. Children 10 years of age and younger are free. Comfortable table seating is available and attendees can bring their own snacks and blankets too!
The Festival’s main sponsors include the Bel Air Cultural Arts Commission and the Bel Air Economic & Community Development Commission. Co-sponsors include Center for the Arts, Bel Air Downtown Alliance, Harford County Cultural Arts Board, and Best Buy. Honorary sponsors include the Maryland Film Festival and the Maryland Film Office.
