When was the last time that you awoke to the sound of hoof beats and the roll of carriage wheels going down the street - then to hear a car go by in the same instant?

You will hear these sounds as you awake at the Country Hearth Bed and Breakfast. We are located in the “Heart of Lancaster County” and the horse and buggy traffic is a daily occurrence. It is a blend of the past and present right outside our door.

Our home, built in 1793, is rumored to have once been a stagecoach stop as well as a tavern. Marvel at the three original fireplaces, the original pine random width floors, and the wide window sills which add to the charm of this 210+ year old stone farmhouse.

Wake to the smell of coffee brewing and muffins baking. Enjoy a romantic candlelight full breakfast served each morning at 8:30 am. Your breakfast will include coffee, teas, juices, and fresh fruit. A hot entree of the chef’s choice will be served which might include an egg dish, gourmet french toast or pancakes. You will also enjoy fresh baked muffins, coffee cake, funny cake, shoofly pie or scones.

In the cooler months, you can warm up by the fire in the dining room fireplace which originally served as the stove for the home.

Spend early morning before breakfast or relax after a long day in our comfortable gathering room. Curl up with a good book, watch television or a movie, play games, or just relax and enjoy the soothing music. If you prefer, take one of the many videos from our collection to enjoy in the privacy of your own room.

Our inn is a short drive to the Village of Intercourse, home of Kitchen Kettle Village, the Strasburg Railroad, the Lancaster outlets, Amish tours and much more. Take a drive to enjoy as well as see our Amish neighbors working the fields, doing errands or watch the children play in their natural surroundings.

In order to make your visit in PA Dutch country more memorable, ask us about making reservations for you to experience dinner in an Amish home with an Amish family. We have been told it is the highlight of the trip.
