[edit] Life and Death

In 5574 DE (2082 BC), Gish began preaching, focusing on the words of Yahvo and their place in D'ni worship, denouncing the Great King. Gish's teachings were not original. However, he become very popular by being a strong proponent of them. King Adesh actively opposed Gish's teaching and arrested him repeatedly. This simply seemed to increase his notability.

Gish was killed in 5675 DE (1981 BC) by members of the Relyimah at the order of King Adesh. The public was outraged, and Gish became a martyr.

[edit] Religious Views

Gish's teachings centered on following the commandments of Yahvo, as opposed to the concept of taygahn, or love for Yahvo. He felt that taygahn was being used as an excuse for one's actions. He believed that only by following these commandments could a person get into the Perfect Age. He believed that one of Yahvo's commandments was to not have contact with outsiders.

Gish criticized the concept of the Great King. He denied that Ahlsendar was the Great King prophesied by Oorpah.

[edit] Cultural Impact

After his death at the hands of the Relyimah, Gish became a martyr. The influence of his teachings spread until, by 7000 DE (656 BC), his interpretation was the dominant religious view.

Hisha, wife of King Rikooth and mother of Kerath was a strong believer in Gish's teachings. This influenced her son's decision to abdicate the throne in favor of a guild system.
