Ashem'en, originally named Uran, is a district in the D'ni city where the Er'cana Silo is located.

The district began operation in the year 5500 DE (2156 BC) in order to insure safety when dealing with travel and import between Ages. That was because it's place was much further from the city than the old district of Nehw'eril.

Around 5359 DE (2297 BC), King Me'emen renamed the Uran district to Ashem'en, in honor of his son Ashem.[Citation needed]

[edit] Canon

The following section is written from an OOC point of view. Events and elements surrounding the Myst Universe are regarded as fictional.

The information regarding the renaming of the district was found in the King Me'emen journal in the Hall of Kings. However, as of February 14th, 2007, this journal is nowhere to be found – its pedestal is empty, whereas those of the predecessor King Emen and the successor King Adesh are filled. This might mean that the information is now outdated, and no longer part of canon.
