Dance Schools

Dance and other performance based schools will generally use music in two different ways.  The most obvious is the performance of music itself, but an important part of the overall package provided by schools to their students, is to provide them with copies of the music they are learning to perform or sing.  APRA|AMCOS has a licensing solution for these different uses.

Public performance of music during dance classes

  • Unless otherwise specified, all APRA|AMCOS licences are offered on an annual basis. Where appropriate, fees are subject to an automatic annual adjustment in accordance with the percentage rise in the consumer price index (All Groups Sydney, September Quarter).
  • Covers use of music during classes.

Recording and/or synchronisation of music into video

APRA|AMCOS offers a cost effective solution for dance schools that want to make reproductions of music for certain purposes.  This licence is offered in conjunction with the Australia Recording Industry Association (ARIA) to provide a simple one-stop licence for the separate rights in the underlying works and associated sound recordings and gives you access to a world of music for your dance school.

The combined AMCOS/ARIA licence for dance schools permits the reproduction of certain musical works and sound recordings and the synchronisation of the same into video recordings as follows:

  • The reproduction of AMCOS controlled musical works into audio recordings;
  • The reproduction of ARIA controlled sound recordings into audio recordings;
  • The synchronisation and reproduction of AMCOS controlled musical works into video recordings;
  • The synchronisation and reproduction of ARIA controlled sound recordings into video recordings.
