      A Nightmare on Elm Street

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Visually faithful but lacking the depth and subversive twists that made the original so memorable, the Nightmare on Elm Street remake lives up to its title in the worst possible way.

chris h This movie is beyond bad.Even the special effects feel tired. This movie did everything it could to rip off the others.Even the quote"you're in my world now *itch" from Freddy vs Jason. This movie is bad in all areas....and the guy playing Freddy is horrible and looks ridiculous.Movie is gutter at best. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Natasha A A Nightmare on Elm Street without Robert England is like Star Wars without Darth Vader. You could remake it a 100s and his role as Freddy is just too legendary to replace. This movie was ok, but Freddy's was just not the role it should have been. That was the wow factor it needed. Should have green screened him. His voice and laugh gave Kruger the iconic of nightmares. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review MLU It's not that bad as the rewiews are saying it is. Freddy looks (espacially compared to the originall freddy) very bad. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Jebediah J Although not liked by many people I find if you watch this movie as it's own movie and not compare it to the original it is a good movie, the only problem I have is with the female lead having zero charisma and just sleep walking through the film no pun intended Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review David C El Freddy de este Remake está horrible la película está fea, asquerosa 🤮 el final es muy malo Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Trafalgar L Thrilling, Violent and it does what the 1984 version couldn't do. Wes Craven's original idea was to have Freddy Krueger be a PDF-ile who is burned to death by the parents of his victims. A lot of people didn't like the overall blandness of this movie, but it's a cautionary tale about being wary of who you trust with your children. I for one loved it. Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online It's cliched, boring, and anticlimactic. Rated: D+ Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly I did jump a few times, and I liked Haley's dour malevolence, but overall, the new Nightmare on Elm Street is a by-the-numbers bad dream. Rated: B- Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Christine Champ Film.com Freddy's back -- and he's slicker and more sinister than ever. Rated: B May 6, 2011 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review A Nightmare on Elm Street is just as tedious as the other horror remakes by Platinum Dunes, avoiding any semblance of creative thought or innovative interpretation. Rated: 1/4 Aug 18, 2023 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal Re-imagining a character whose appeal is largely inextricable from his initial era is a suicide mission. Stay too pure to the original & what’s the point? Complications stray from its strengths. It's basically a question of who would fall on the grenade. Rated: .5/5 Nov 1, 2022 Full Review Cody Leach Cody Leach (YouTube) A commendable attempt by Haley to step into near-unfillable shoes is completely let down by a generic copy & paste script and an overuse of unforgivable CGI. Rooney Mara acts like she'd rather be anywhere else and most audience members will feel the same. Rated: 2/5 Aug 20, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
